Snapchat Memories Downloader: Every Option Compared (2026)

If you searched for a Snapchat Memories downloader, you probably already know the problem. Saving Memories one by one from the app is fine for ten Snaps and hopeless for three thousand. And the official export, when it lands, is a ZIP full of files that all claim to be from today.

We make one of the tools below, so we'll be upfront about it and about what the others do better. Prices and features are as listed on each tool's own site when we checked, on 5 October 2026. They change; follow the links.

First: every downloader starts with the same export

No tool can pull your Memories out of Snapchat on its own, and you should be wary of one that asks for your Snapchat password to try. The only complete copy comes from Snapchat itself, through My Data:

  1. In Snapchat, go to Settings → My Data (or accounts.snapchat.com on the web).
  2. Choose to export your Memories, and pick All time so nothing is left behind.
  3. Confirm your email. Snap says it aims to deliver within 7 days; large archives can take longer.

What arrives is a ZIP (or several, for big accounts). Inside: your photos and videos, a separate transparent image for every caption, and a file called memories_history.json that holds the real dates and places. The full walkthrough, screen by screen, is in how to download all your Snapchat Memories.

A "downloader" is whatever you use to turn that ZIP into a gallery that makes sense.

What a good Snapchat Memories downloader fixes

Four problems, in order of how much they'll annoy you:

  • Dates. The files carry no capture date, so your gallery files everything under the day you downloaded it. Why it happens and how to fix it.
  • Places. Same story for location: it's in the JSON file, not in the photos.
  • Captions and stickers. They come out as separate overlay images. A good tool puts them back on the photo.
  • Big, split exports. Large accounts receive several ZIPs, often many gigabytes. The tool has to treat them as one archive.

How to choose

You have a few dozen favourite Snaps. Save them from the app: open Memories, select, export to your camera roll. It's free and the captions come out flattened. It doesn't scale, and whether the saved files keep their original date varies, so open a few in your gallery before you save hundreds. Details in saving Memories to your camera roll.

You're comfortable in a terminal. A free script will fix a whole archive on your computer. Check it converts the UTC times to local time and skips the "0.0, 0.0" non-locations, then plan how you'll get thousands of files back onto your phone.

You want it done on your phone, and nothing uploaded. That's what we built Still Mine for. You open the ZIP exactly as Snapchat sent it, on your iPhone or Android phone; split exports and multi-GB archives open as one. Your whole archive shows up as a timeline, year by year, for free. If you want to keep it, €4.99 once saves every Memory to your gallery at full resolution, with its original date and place written in and its caption back on. No account, no subscription, and no file ever leaves your phone.

You'd rather work on a computer. FixMyExport has desktop apps for Mac and Windows as well as mobile ones. It lists restoring dates and GPS, merging overlays and joining split videos, and says your files are processed on your device, not uploaded. Memohop is a Mac app.

You're on iPhone. Still Mine runs on iPhone as well as Android. Memport is an iPhone-only alternative and was available on the App Store when we checked.

One question to ask any tool: where do my files go?

Your Memories are probably the most personal files you own. Some tools process the export on your own device; with others, you send your ZIP to their website and the work happens on their servers. Neither is automatically wrong, but you should know which one you're choosing. Read the tool's privacy page before you hand it ten years of your life, and look for a plain answer on whether files are uploaded and when they're deleted.

Do you even need a downloader?

Not strictly. Nothing forces you to fix anything: Snap has confirmed it won't delete your Memories because you don't pay for storage. From January 2027, though, Memories over a year old that aren't among your oldest 5 GB will be archived, visible as thumbnails but closed unless you pay for storage (what Snap actually said). A copy of your own, with the right dates, is what keeps them open without a monthly bill. If you'd rather pay Snapchat, here is what storage really costs over ten years.

FAQ

Is there a way to download all Snapchat Memories at once?

Yes: Snapchat's My Data export. In Settings → My Data, export your Memories for All time, and Snap emails you a ZIP of every Memory. It's free. The files come without capture dates and with captions as separate images, which is what downloader tools fix afterwards.

Is there a free Snapchat Memories downloader?

Yes. The My Data export itself is free, and open-source scripts on GitHub can write the dates back into each file on a computer. They need some technical comfort. Still Mine is free to look through your whole archive on your phone; saving it to your gallery is €4.99 once.

Do I need to give my Snapchat password to a downloader?

No. A downloader should only ever ask for the ZIP Snapchat sends you, never your Snapchat login. You request the export yourself inside Snapchat. Be careful with any tool that asks to connect to your Snapchat account.

Which Snapchat Memories downloader keeps the original dates?

Any tool that reads memories_history.json and writes the dates into each file: open-source scripts, Still Mine, FixMyExport, Memport, MemoriesExport and SnapEasy all list date restoration. Saving from the Snapchat app or copying the raw export to your gallery does not.

Does Snapchat delete Memories if I don't download them?

No. Snap's help centre says it won't delete Memories because you don't upgrade your storage. From January 2027, Memories over a year old that aren't among your oldest 5 GB will be archived: still stored, shown as thumbnails, opened only with a storage plan or from your own copy.
